FAQ

What version of photoshop do I need to use  your actions?

My actions were written in CS2 and they are compatible with Photoshop 7.0, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5 and are compatible with MAC.

Do you make actions for Elements or presets for Lightroom and RAW?

Right now, my actions are only for Photoshop 7.0 and DO NOT work in Elements.  If you are looking for some great RAW and Lightroom presets, check out K. Lane Boutique.

I like my b/w images to be true b/w’s…not have a brown tone to them, can I leave that out?

You sure can, all my actions are completely adjustable so you can tweak them to make them your own.

I’m new to actions so I really don’t know how to adjust them, can you tell me how to tweak them?

When I send you the actions, I also send my tips and tricks on what I do to tweak them…they are very easy to follow and you will love the results.

How do I download and run actions in PS?

First save the actions to your computer, the open up PS or CS and look in your action palette. You’ll see either some little dots with lines or an arrow inside a circle at the top right corner of the box, click on that and a drop-down menu will appear. Scroll down to load actions, click on it and then just go go where you saved them on your computer and click on them. That loads them.

To apply them, just open up the photo you want to run them on and in the action palette click on the one you want to use and press play…it’s that easy.

After I purchase the actions and/or textures, how soon will I get them?

If you purchased individual actions, you will receive them within 24-48 hours (usually sooner). If you do not receive them by then, please check your spam folder. If you do not have them, check your Paypal account email address, it may be different than you’re normal email address. If you still don’t have them, please contact me at Brendaleann@gmail.com.

If you purchase my textures and the complete set of actions (using the correct button), you will get an instant link to download them immediately.

I would like to purchase your textures and 4 of your actions…why can’t I add everything to one shopping cart and pay only one time?

Because you get to choose which actions you would like to purchase, there is no way I can combine that option and purchasing the textures in one cart.  The only way is to choose which actions you want, add them too your cart and then complete your order.  And since you get an instant downloadable link for the textures (and if you purchase the full set of actions), you can not put them in the same shopping cart as your actions.  You will have to make two seperate payments for them.  You can however buy the textures and the full set of actions together (making sure you use the correct buttons).

What version of Photoshop do I need to be able to use your textures?

With my textures, they are compatible in all versions of Photoshop including Elements. They are not compatible in any other photo editing software.

I don’t know how to apply textures so my photos, do you send instructions on how to use them?

Of course, included in the zip file is a set of instructions on how to use them.

Do you load textures like you load actions into Photoshop?

No, with textures, you just open them like you would a photograph, do a select all, copy it and then paste it onto the photo you want to apply it too.

Brenda’s Tips and Tricks for using her actions:

In the b/w action, I always play with the second layer first and then if I have too, I’ll adjust the first layer. Also, whenever you come to any stops, it’s usually a duplicate layer. If at any time your image become too light or blown, just make a layer mask and pick the black paint brush and brush back those areas. You’ll have to play with the opacity of the brush a bit to get it to blend.

If you want a true b/w, you can either stop the action after the first stop.  Just flatten your layers and run an USM on it. Be sure that you make the color mode to RGB otherwise it will not save as a jpeg. Or you can run the action all the way through, bring up the hue/sat box, click on colorize and make your top number to 30 and the middle number between 3-4.

I highly suggest to run all the actions on a properly exposed photo for best results. But with the b/w2 action, your photo can be a bit underexposed before running it. Just really play around with all the actions to get the results you like.

Make sure when you run the vignette action, it’s on a full-resolution image (250-300 dpi), not a web-sized one.

Brenda’s Tips and Tricks for using her textures:

When you paint back some of the texture from you image you may loose that tint/color/tone you like. What you can do to keep it in your photo is grab your eye dropper from your tool palette and click on the tint/color/tone in the texture that you like. Next, have your image open that you are working on. Then go to Layer, New Fill Layer and choose Solid Color and then color you chose with your eyedropper should now cover the entire photo and you shouldn’t see anything under it.

Now there are a couple different options you can do here:

Go to your layer’s palette (make sure the fill layer is highlighted) and you can either keep it on Normal and lower the opacity to your liking, or you can choose Screen and do the same. This will lighten up your photo too. Or you can choose Soft Light and lower your opacity to your choosing. This option will add some contrast to your photo.

That’s it…very easy to do and it lets you keep the tint you want in the photo. You can actually do this with a couple colors from the texture if you want. =)
